Education

I graduated in 2013 from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. I double minored in Secondary Education and Psychology. While at MTSU, I was twice awarded a prestigious English department scholarship.

Experience

I have taught 8th and 9th grade English/Language Arts in an urban public school setting and have tutored students in grades 1-12. Additionally, I have taught all subjects to youth grades 7-12 in a facility for adjudicated youth. I have a passion for literacy and could easily spend my 90% free time reading a good book or creative writing. There are some people who would rather have teeth pulled than read a book or write a paper. That’s where I come in: I try to make learning fun and relevant for my students. By getting to know my students as individuals, I am able to assist my students in achieving high levels of growth. I love helping students succeed regardless of their educational setting, or background and/or past educational struggles.
